Every anniversary carries with it the responsibility to look back, as well as the courage to step forward. Three and a half decades since the declaration of Macedonia’s independence represent an opportunity to reflect—through the prism of cultural heritage—upon the path of national maturation, the pursuit of freedom, and the creative defiance that has shaped Macedonian identity over the centuries.
The exhibition "The Colors of Freedom" brings us together around works that convey a powerful historical, social, and aesthetic message.
The exhibited works convey the energy of generations of revivalists, Ilinden insurgents, partisans, artists, and cultural figures who, with their authentic signature, left an indelible mark on the building of modern Macedonian cultural identity.
