As of April 1, 2026, Aleksandar Ristevski has been appointed Director of the NI Museum of Macedonia, following a completed open competition. Ristevski was selected through the competition announced by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism during February 2026.
He graduated from the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology in Skopje at UKIM (Ss. Cyril and Methodius University).
He has built his professional career at the NI National Gallery of Macedonia, where he has worked for over 16 years, currently as a curator-ethnologist in the Department of Depot and Documentation, and previously as an associate in the Department of Design and Marketing.
He is the author of the English-language tourist guide Skopje Museum Tour, and has curated exhibitions by Dimitar Filipovski, Antonio Arangjelović, among others, as well as various other projects and exhibitions, including the most recent one at his home institution, "Ethnography in the Works from the Collection of the National Gallery".
For many years, he has been the editor of the education, science, and culture platform Cooltura.mk, which has been promoting Macedonian cultural projects, events, and policies for more than fifteen years.
