Elsie Ivancich Dunin is a dance ethnologist, ethnochoreologist, professor, and author specializing in folk dances. She dedicated 50 years of scientific research (1967–2017) to the dances and traditional line dances (ora) of Macedonia.
Among her works dedicated to Macedonian dance, a particularly notable study focuses on Romani dances in Macedonia, with a special emphasis on the St. George’s Day celebration (known in Romani as Ederlezi). Her comprehensive ethnographic documentation from 1970 to 2017 was generously gifted to the Museum of Macedonia.
